Does the Atacama 2 tent really live up to the hype? In this review I’m going to look at the Redverz Atacama 2 Moto Tent. Spoiler alert – this is a highly impressive piece of camping gear that delivers on both functionality and durability. Redverz have designed the Atacama 2 with motorcyclists in mind- and frankly it’s a great tent that is equally good for car camping.
The Atacama 2 is an expedition tent that is ideal for those who enjoy long-distance travel and require a reliable shelter for their journeys.
It comfortably sleeps 3 adults with space to spare and is well ventilated with multiple doors, flaps and insect netting built in as standard. It compares well with other Moto tents, for instance the Lone Rider Moto Tent. The sleeping area is larger and better configured than the competition in my opinion.
One of the most notable features of the Atacama 2 is its innovative tunnel design, which includes a spacious garage area that can comfortably accommodate a motorcycle, making it easy to set up camp anywhere, without the need for an additional shelter for your bike. If you aren’t using the garage for your bike it provides a spacious living and changing area – especially if you add the “Garage” ground sheet. The main sleeping area is also spacious, comfortably fitting two adults and their gear, and features excellent ventilation thanks to the two large doors and numerous windows.
The construction of the Redverz Atacama 2 tent is a key feature that sets it apart from other camping tents and is part of the reason for the price. The tent is designed to withstand extreme weather conditions, and this is reflected in its use of high-quality materials. That said it is not good in snow, but for me that wasn’t even a consideration. The ripstop nylon shell is lightweight, yet very durable, and is designed to resist tears and punctures.
The waterproof zippers ensure that no water can seep into the tent, keeping you dry and comfortable even during heavy rain. Additionally, the sturdy aluminum frame provides excellent stability and can withstand high winds. The tent’s attention to detail is evident in its reinforced stress points, which ensure that the tent is strong enough to withstand the stresses of prolonged use. One of my favourite features is that the Guy Lines can be stowed in pockets built into the tent so if they aren’t in use they are out of the way.
The reflective guy lines are also a thoughtful addition, making it easy to find the tent in low light conditions. All of these features come together to create a tent that is not only functional but also built to last.
Setting up the Redverz Atacama 2 tent is a straightforward process that can be accomplished by one person in around 10 minutes. The tent comes with a comprehensive instruction manual that makes it easy to assemble, and all the poles are color-coded, which helps ensure that the tent is set up correctly.
The tent’s innovative design also makes it easy to set up and take down. The garage area, which is designed to accommodate a motorcycle, is accessed through a large door that is easy to open and close. The main sleeping area is also easy to access thanks to the two large doors and numerous windows that provide excellent ventilation. Overall, the ease of setup and takedown make the Atacama 2 an excellent choice for campers who want a tent that is both functional and easy to use. Whether you’re setting up camp for the night or moving on to your next destination, the Atacama 2 can be quickly and easily disassembled, allowing you to hit the road with minimal hassle.
Overall, the Redverz Atacama 2 tent is an excellent investment for anyone looking for a durable, spacious, and well-designed tent that can accommodate both their motorcycle and themselves.
While it is a bit pricey (£550), the quality and functionality of the tent make it worth every penny – so yes it does live up to the hype!!
